Legit question I want answered…
This may seem strange, but although I very much consider myself Christian, I never claim to know a ton of biblical reference.
So, in observing Lent again, I’m seriously concerned with the idea that “Sundays don’t count” when fasting.
Where in the Bible does it say that it’s okay to not fast on Sundays? I get that Sunday is the sabbath and that we are “in the presence of the Lord,” etc. but I’ve always felt that not fasting on Sundays during Lent was kind of a cop-out.
Anyone? Please?

Generally Lenten fasting is not observed on Sunday because each one represents a “mini-Easter,” a celebration of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. There’s no Biblical directive for Lenten fasting; it’s based on liturgy, tradition, and symbolism.

i know in the “olden” days, people used to fast on Sat and feast on Sun. it was part of their worship experience

There is nothing in the bible that says you shouldn’t fast on Sundays. I think that if you do want to fast then yes, it should be all week, including sundays :)

I think it has to do with the actual counting, if you count 40 days and every day of lent its supposed to not add up right? idk…
